Slim fingers gently stroked the blade she held, twisting it gently in her hands. Quietly she sighed, digits lightly clearing the bronze free of dust. This blade here, it was special, and not in the way celestial bronze typically was. This was the first weapon she'd ever approved of herself. The lazy swirls trailing upwards towards the carefully sharpened point reflected herself in them, in the craftsmanship.
She carefully sheathed the weapon and stood from her rock, her hands resting gently on her lumbar as she pulled her shoulders backwards to crack her spine. Her dark gaze rose skyward, a sigh passing through her lips.
Summers were quite difficult for the woman to get through- 'My armor needs refitted right NOW' or 'I think I broke this something-or-other.' All of it annoyed her and pushed her just a little closer to the edge.
All she anted as some alone time, five minutes of her day where she could just laze about by the forest and contemplate her meaningless existence during these depressing, harsh months alone.
Aluehart clapped her hands together as though she was removing a thin layer of dust, and set off towards the ocean, here the waves nestled into the soft sands, quickly blending into mahogany trees. That was where it was the most peaceful- where the monsters refused to tread and the demigods inhabiting the camp left it alone, unless they were like her and needed a moment from the tightly packed camp.

Theodore's dark eyes opened slightly at the sound of footsteps against the forest floor. The sound of the person's shoes crunched against the drying leaves of the fallen foliage, waking him from his light sleep. The young man's head tilted upwards to glance at the sky, a yawn cracking through his face, splitting it in two with a grunt. Snuffing for a moment, he rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand. Another yawn split his face as he glanced down to spot who it was that was upsetting his little nap. A small smile came to his face, pleased to see that it was not, in fact, one of those annoying little kids that seemed to be swarming the camp lately. All children, never anyone mature...
Stretching his body out, his sighed as he felt his back crack. Twisting his head to pop his neck, he swung his legs over the side of the thick branch that he had been sleeping on to lean against this hands, pressed against the wood to keep himself from falling.
“Oi! Aluehart!” he called down, raising a hand in a wave. “What are you doing down here, for? Shouldn't you be up at the forge? I imagine the beginning of summer is one of the damned busiest. Everyone coming home to bother you about growth spurts and the like. I think you're going to overwhelm poor Chris if you leave him too long alone. He gets nervous with all the people and girls.”
Debating for a moment whether or not he should jump down, Teddy swung for a moment, before launching himself from the tree. Stumbling a little upon his landing, his face screwed up in a slight wince as he stood back up, a twang in his leg from the fall.
“Damn... Remind me not to jump from trees again.”

"Heh. Don't jump from trees again." she answered, slim eyebrows rising. "I won't always be around. Chris needs to learn how to deal with it on his own." Harsh, but true. Teddy was one of an exclusive club she neer seemed flustered with. She even thought he was a little cute.
Even for a son of Ares.
She saw him plenty, as he was always breaking this, or destorying that, or 'Alue, my breastplate is dented. Fix it now so I can go kick his ass' or something. She scooted over to the side ever so slightly, if only to give him some walking room. "I need a miniute's peace. You can come if you want. What were you doing so close to the forest anyway? You got a death wish or something?"
Her slim, calloused fingers brushed ever-so-gently against his hands, as their forms walked forward together.

“Smart ass, aren't you?” Teddy murmured as his dark eyes rolled in his head, hand rising to rub against his neck as he watched the woman while she spoke. She had a point, really, but at the same time, Chris was... well, he was Chris. Never really the talkative kind, let alone the kind of man who talked to women, specifically. But women seemed to love the 'Son of Hephaestus' and 'Son of Ares' types of kids. Teddy shook his head, dropping it. Aluehart wasn't one to be moved once she had gotten her stubborn ass stuck on an opinion.
“Well, you ought to know; this close to the forest is the only place where it's peace and quiet. Even myself, who loves to talk to women, and beat the living crap out of folks needs some time alone. I'm starting to get sore, and it's only the first week back at camp for most of them,” he said, shoulders shrugging casting a sideways glance towards the red head.
He moved so that he was a little further away, silently offering to her the space that she had said she needed. Head tilted upwards to look at the underneath of the foliage high above them, dark eyes watching as the green and blue colors of the trees and sky swayed in the breeze, blending together in a fine summer afternoon.
As his head fell back to its proper position, he turned to murmur to her, “Besides, sometimes you can come in here and feel closer to the gods than in any of the cabins, or arena, or anyplace down there. It's too... I dunno... It just feels easier to try and get their attention out here.”

She snorted, arms grumpily crossing over her chest. She understood why others may want the gap between parent and child to be closer, but she couldn't give two shits. She had Hephaestus as a father figure, and that was about all she needed. Besides, if half these kids saw what their godly parents did on their off, or bad days, they would shit themselves scared.
Alue no longer pushed her fingers against him, giving Teddy his own space. Her dark eyes focused on ahead. "Why would you want to talk to Ares? He's not that great of a..." Her voice trailed off as her hands rose to attempt to assist her in phrasing the proper words.
She did not want to frustrate him of course, and she found her fingers rising to instead brush her scarlet hair away. "What about... I help you? Did you want a Drachma to talk to him? When was the last time you spoke?"

Theodore couldn't help but chuckle a little as the redhead attempted to phrase what she thought of Ares. It was pretty much what everyone thought of Ares. Even a lot of his own children. There was no mistaking it in her voice. Not that Alue ever really showed much empathy. Not that he minded. Teddy honestly enjoyed her bluntness, rather. It was cute.
“Not real great of a father figure? I know,” he attempted to finish, shaking his head and smiling a little, almost sadly, again shaking his head at her question. “No, no. I've... Honestly, Alue? I've never talked to him. I've never seen him, personally. It's always someone else that he's interested in. It's... frustrating. I'm sure you know how much so. He wouldn't answer me. Not yet. I'm not strong enough. I've been here for years, as long as you have. And, well, neither of us have gotten a quest yet.”
A foot lashed out, kicking a rock into the bushes, listening as the sound of the stone hitting and breaking leaves silenced after a it thunked against a tree trunk. The man paused his steps, eyes flashing for a moment, face twisting into a scowl as he thought over what he had just said. It was too true. They had been here since they were kids, and still, nothing. Alue wasn't even claimed yet!
“We need one. We need something to get us noticed. I see other kids come and become friends with their parents and it... it just...” Teddy grunted in anger, unable to find the proper words that he was thinking, unwilling to let the woman deep into his mind. There was no point. He was one of the eldest sons of Ares at camp. He was supposed to be one of the strongest. He wasn't supposed to be whining in the forest about daddy.
Yet...

"Teddy, stop." she murmured, whirling around to take his fingers in her palms, lifting them to her lips. Quiet huffs of her breath slid onto his flesh, her eyes lifting to the male's furious gaze. "These things happen... It's not... Something you or I can control. I'm sure he's been here before where you weren't expecting to see him. Hephaestus does it all the time to me. Apollo and Hermes do it too. It's all the mist- you never know where to look. I'm sure he's been here."
Her fingers lifted to the bronze arrowhead around his neck that signified his importance. "You may not be the favorite child, but the first-born never is. You're special enough to your brothers and sisters to be put here in the first place." She dropped the metal, allowing it to fall easily back onto his chest.
She wore one too- for the seven months she resided at the camp, Aluehart was also a cabin head, for cabin eleven. "They have their reasons for everything. It just isn't your time yet. Did you ever think about that?"
Her hands fell as she continued to walk forward. "Maybe you should go to Olympus yourself. What's going on that you can't go on your own?"

“tch,” the dark haired male scoffed, scowling still, fingers tingling at her breath's touch. He stood watching her as she picked up the arrowhead that lay around his neck. His head moved to look away, off into the forest, as she spoke, not wanting to listen to reason. It was never something he could control. Never. Shaking his head, he brushed past her, lingering for a moment while they were shoulder to shoulder to say, “The only reason I'm a head counselor is because I'm the eldest son who hasn't done something stupid enough to get caught almost killing someone.”
Walking past her, hands shoved deeply into the pockets of his light blue jeans, he sighed as she spoke of something about his time. There was always a time for something, they said, wasn't there? A time for this, a time for that. A time for life, a time for death. But who ever decided what time it was? The clocks on the walls certainly never did. The Fates? He couldn't bring himself to believe that the Fates were in charge of ever half-blood's destiny. It all played out by the hands of the demigods themselves.
“We bring the time to ourselves. But we're blocked, that idiot wine god and the horse keep 'protecting' us. Won't let us do anything. And if you remember, those idiots keep us to the same rules as the rest of the campers, no matter if we're adults. Going to Olympus is done either through field trips or quests. I've never been chosen for either,” he said, his voice low as it drifted back to Alue, anger still laced thickly through it. “Besides. If he hasn't taken notice of me yet down here, why should he even acknowledge me at his own home? He probably wouldn't be there, anyway. Off gallivanting with that whore of his.”
His shoulders slumped forward for a moment, before his back straightened with the anger he was struggling to keep under control. Teddy stopped again, eyes closing for a moment as he took in a deep breath. Turning his head, his eyes looked a little calmer as he called back to her, “Come on, Alue! Let's find someplace where we can cool down. Maybe we can go skinny dipping in the lake while everyone's out at the arena being welcomed~”

\ She frowned, her head tilting to a side as she raced to catch up to him. Her eyes rolled at the flirt, and she shook her head. "Nah, no skinny dipping for me. I'm waayy too good for you. Besides, you have plenty of followers in the Aphrodite cabin." A giggle slid through her lips- rare for the daughter of an unknown God.
This time, she caught his hand full on and gripped it tightly, refusing to release the digits. She knew him too well and wanted him to know someone felt his pain. "At least you know who your parent is. I'm not loved or even liked enough to know..." A pang hit her chest, and her face fell. She wasn't loved enough to even know. "Y'know what Teddy?" the female questioned, pushing him heavily into a tree.
"I can beat you to the shore!" She sprinted away, her eyes flashing back and forth as she ran, her feet pounding loudly into the ground as her laughter echoed across the forest.

“You've always been,” he agreed, shaking his head with a small smile. “At least you'll admit the small things. And please, don't mention those females... They're so hard to get rid of sometimes. Just because of my father and their mother, they all seem to think that they're 'destined' to be with me, or one of my brothers. They don't really seem to be too upset about the set up, though. I'm pretty sure they're all just used for practice, though...”
A surprised flicker crossed Teddy's face as she grabbed his hand, this time tight. He turned to look at her, a sadness for her in his eyes as she spoke. He knew that she wasn't claimed, and he knew that deep down it bothered her. A lot. It bothered everyone who wasn't claimed. It made you feel unloved and useless. He'd known that pain for a while. But she was right; at least he had been claimed. He did have some assumptions for her father, though. Everyone did. She was just perfect for Hephaestus' daughter! The attitude, the fact that she even went with the god to be his apprentice for half the year! It just seemed perfect.
About to say something, he waited as she spoke again, a small “Ooof!” escaping him as his back hit the tree. Stumbling a little forward as she let him go to sprint off, he couldn't help but smirk, brushing the bark specs from his shoulders before sprinting after the redhead, a flutter in his chest as she laughed and whooped towards the shore.
Pounding the ground furiously, he sailed past the last of the trees, bursting into the open air. Breathing heavily, he paused for a moment to look around the grassy shore, dark eyes falling onto the back of the redheaded woman. A playful scowl took his face before he sprinted after her again, almost slipping as he hit the sand. Finally catching up to her, he didn't stop as he reached the shore after her. In fact, he raced up to her, grabbing her around the middle and lifting her as easily as a small bag of potatoes, hauling her over his shoulder and continuing onto the dock. With a loud whoop, his feet left the wooden barge, the two of them sailing in the air before hitting the water with a huge splash.
Head breaking the surface, Theodore panted, grinning at Aluehart, puffing as he managed out, “You win. This is the prize.”

The fire-engine redheaded female doubled over, her breath coming in sharp gasps. A smirk rested heavy upon her forest, and she found herself slowly standing to her full height, brushing her fur out of her eyes to look around.
Suddenly, a pair of strong arms tugged around her stomach and she was slung over a thick shoulder. "Theodore!" she screamed, her tiny fists balled up, pounding and pounding against his back as her feet kicked about. Gentle, quiet squeaks echoed past her lips as she flailed about, her gaze thrown back to the forest.
"Where are you taking me!? she hissed, continuing to struggle more and more until his feet halted at the edge of the barge. "So-help-me-god-if-you-throw-me-" Too late, they were in the drink. She screamed loudly until their fully clothed forms hit the water, her hands clutching, her feet kicking.
She made her way around to his front, eyes narrowing as he seemed to laugh at her, spitting out an enitre mouthful of lakewater in his face. "Some prize this is, you ass."

Teddy couldn't help but grin at Alue, even as she spit water at his face, even laughing a little as she cursed his prize. He didn't really think it was so bad. She was pretty damned cute when soaked like a scrawny kitten. Sinking down a little, his hands still around her waist, he lifted her so that most of her form was totally clear of the water, kicking out so that they drifted even further into the lake. A few bubbles came from his, his auburn eyes shining with mischief as he watched her for only a moment more before dunking her down into the water again. He pushed off her shoulders to swim back a little, his laughter bouncing off the water.
“I'm enjoying this prize!” he called out whenever she broke the surface again, unable to see her as he twisted out of his button up, glad that he had left his heavy, valuable leather jacket back on his bunk for once. Turning away from where he had dunked her, he tossed the soaking wet shirt back onto the shore, pausing to listen to the incoming of kids from whatever busses or family drop offs that they came from.
Eventually turning back towards Alue, Teddy smirked and looked around, commenting. “Now, you want to stay out here with me and skip all those lousy formalities? Or do you wanna be miss fancy pants and go back? Cuz I wouldn't mind the whole skinny dipping... Honest. Even if you are too good for me. I'd enjoy the view.”

She tread water in the lake, shivering at the feeling of the cool water against her skin and waterlogged clothes. Her arms and legs made circles that grew lazier and lazier as the female kept herself above the waves. "Teddy~" she whined, watching him remove his shirt. She kicked out at him playfully, her gaze scrunched up in a fake glare. "Well if you want me to be the proper adult that I am, technically, you are supposed to be there greeting them with me. What if it's a busload of Ares' sons and daughters? Gods forbid, how would we keep up with all of them?" She kicked out, latching herself to Theodore's chest.
"C'mon, let's go." She offered a gentle kiss to his scruffy cheek, smiling happily. Her fingers rose, tugging gently on the back of his head, tugging his head backwards. Without much care, she pushed off of his chest and swam her way back to shore, shaking off water droplets and wringing out her fluorescent orange shirt. There she waited, her eyes focusing happily on the male in the water. She wanted to tug him close and pet him, tell him things would be okay.
It wasn't his fault. He tried so hard to be the best he could be, and to her, Teddy was that poor little boy she still felt she needed to protect, he was the one who came with her. He needed someone who felt close, to assure him he was needed, loved.

Theodore drew in a deep breath to let it out in a huffy sigh as the girl talked about going back to greet the kids that were coming in. Of course she would have picked that answer. Why wouldn't she? There was nothing between them to keep her here, lazying in the water. Maybe naked. Rolling his dark auburn gaze, he shook his head, grumbling under his breath.
“There are other counselors out there, Alue,” he grumped, eyes glancing at the woman as she swam up to him. “We honestly could stay out here at least 'til the sun sets. Come on... You're no fun sometimes. Really, Aluehart. You need to loosen up.”
He opened his mouth to protest more to their leaving, but fell quiet as the girl kissed his cheek. For a moment, he looked almost shameful and sullen, his eyes dropping to the water before glancing nervously back at the girl. Teddy knew that she was right; it was their responsibility to go. But he felt like it was always their responsibility to go to do the things no one else wanted to do, and to say the things no one else wanted to say, and to be the boring ones. When was the last time that he had just gotten to drop everything and hang out?
The redhead's tugging brought his normality back, eyes narrowing into a glare, a slight scowl on his face. A grunt escaped him before she finally let him go. Watching her for a moment as she swam back to the shore, Teddy turned around to glance at the water behind him, an urging in his chest calling out, wanting to lure him that way. Shaking his head, a second sigh came from him, he made his way back to Alue.
“Well... At least I've gotten to see you almost naked,” Teddy commented as he pulled himself onto shore, winking in her direction, eying her soaking wet clothing.

"How is this almost? I'm still fully clothed!" she snapped, punching him playfully on the arm, narrowing her eyes. "But thanks to you, I have to go back to my cabin and change. Ugh. You're so insufferable sometimes." she grumbled, standing to her full height. Sopping wet jeans clung lke cling-wrap to her thighs, and the woman huffed as she began the long journey back to cabin eleven, back to where her dresser stood packed with replacements.
A guilt hit her chest. "Alright... I'll... Why don't we sneak out tonight, and take a ride somewhere? I've got my charger parked off grounds. Maybe we could go to the city?"
